We are pleased to announce awardees of the second cycle of Carolinas Collaborative grants.

Carolinas Collaborative buildings

The four Carolinas CTSAs (Duke University, the Medical University of South Carolina, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill‐RTI partnership, and Wake Forest University) have partnered with the Carolinas Collaborative. Managed by Health Sciences South Carolina (HSSC) and funded through the Duke Endowment, the Carolinas Collaborative provides a data resource (i2b2/Shrine) that harmonizes the electronic health record data elements highlighted in the CDMv3.0 across the institutions to expedite clinical research and quality improvement activities.

This pilot program is designed to encourage and facilitate novel clinical and translational research that applies or accelerates discovery into testing in clinical or population settings.

In total, 15 applications were received and 2 were chosen for funding. Awardees include investigators from UNC's School of Medicine, Duke University, the Medical University of South Carolina, and Wake Forest University.
