The Carolina Center of Cancer Nanotechnology Excellence (C-CCNE) is funded by the National Cancer Institute with the intent of bringing advanced nanotechnology to cancer research, diagnosis, and treatment. The C-CCNE is pleased to announce the eighth cycle of its Pilot Grant Program in Cancer Nanotechnology (Carolina CCNE Phase III, FY 2018-19). This program is open to all faculty members at UNC-Chapel Hill. Current C-CCNE PIs can participate as collaborators in these Pilot Projects with no salary support.

The C-CCNE will consider brief proposals for basic or applied pilot projects involving nanotechnology in cancer research. The proposals must include innovative new approaches that are not part of the applicant's current research program. Proposals coupling physical sciences and biological translational research will receive priority. Applicants may request up to $50,000 for one year with the possibility of renewal (competitive). We will award four successful proposals with an anticipated start date of 1st August 2018.

A cover page should specify the title of the proposal and the PI's faculty status and departmental affiliation. The scientific aspects of the proposal should be limited to 5 pages (Arial 11, single space) and include: Abstract; Specific Aims; Background and Preliminary Data; Research Design and Methods. A bibliography may be in addition to the 5 pages. The Budget and Budget Justification should be limited to 2 pages. Neither faculty salary support nor indirect costs are allowed. Please include an NIH-style biosketch for the PI, including current funding. A review committee will review both scientific and budgetary aspects of the proposals.

The proposal must be submitted in electronic form (as a PDF) by Friday, June 29, 2018 to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
